ESGENA: About ESGENA

The European Society of Gastroenterology and Endoscopy Nurses and Associates (ESGENA) is focused on the promotion and the advancement of endoscopy and gastroenterology nursing. It has over 7000 nurse members in 40 membership countries working in gastroenterology and/or endoscopy as well as passive and affiliated members interested in the field. Apart from our major work in education we also facilitate communication between endoscopy and gastroenterology nurses in Europe.

	runs an annual scientific meeting in conjunction with the United European Gastroenterology Week » UEGW website
	has established a variety of educational activities
	regularly produces guidelines on aspects of endoscopy in conjunction with the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ESGE) » ESGE website

Aims of ESGENA
	to provide a channel for communication between staff working in gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing on a European level.
	to stimulate European collaboration in nursing research in order to improve quality of care.
	to provide educational opportunities for staff working in gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing
	to promote a recognised qualification in gastroenterology and endoscopy nursing on a European level.
	to promote co-operation with other professional groups with compatible aims
	to advance the professional status of gastroenterology and endoscopy nurses and endoscopy associates on a European level.
	to represent the interests of its members in the European Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (E.S.G.E.).
